Preparation of a National Programme of Action for Adaptation to Climate Change

Project Summary

The objective of the proposed NAPA project for Sierra Leone is to develop a country-wide programme of immediate and urgent project-based adaptation activities that address the current and anticipated adverse effects of climate change. Correlated specific project objectives will thus include the following:-Develop an adaptation strategy, adaptation policies and measures for Sierra Leone, based on a plan of priority activities addressing the urgent and immediate impacts of climate change;-Engage a broad range of national and international stakeholders, and encourage a Napa process closely driven by specific national V&A circumstances;-Enhance Sierra Leone’s institutional and technical capacities to cope with climate change consequences; -Conduct a national adaptation technology needs assessment, and-Develop linkages with prior or on-going poverty alleviation and environmental initiatives.
