Market Development for Solar Water Heaters

The proposed project activities will remove barriers related to i) improving the solar water heating quality, ii) reducing the price and improve affordability, iii) increasing awareness and iv) improving a policy context favourable for solar water heater market development.The GEF support is requested to cover the costs of activities that would catalyze penetration of this medium term market through a promotional phase whereby 100,000 sq.m. would be installed during a 4-year period resulting in direct Carbon abatements of about 350,000 tonnes. A medium term GHG mitigation impact of 1.4 million tonnes of Carbon is expected by 2010.
