Initial assistance to enable Nicaragua to fulfil its obligations under the Stockholm Convention on POPs
Project Summary
The objective is to build Nicaragua’s own sustained capacity to fulfil its obligations in the context of the Stockholm Convention, including the preparation of a National Implementation Plan for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) that will more widely cover aspects important to the safety and management of chemicals, as called for in Chapter 19 of Agenda 21. The Implementation Plan describes how Nicaragua will fulfil its obligations under the Convention to eliminate POP sources and manage POPs contaminated sites in an environmentally sound manner.
