Enabling Congo DR to Fulfill its Commitments to the UNFCCC

This project will provide technical assistance and support development of in-country capacity to enable Congo DR to prepare, formulate and submit its first national communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in accordance with Article 12.1 of the Convention. The project will directly assist in the development of a national inventory of anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of all greenhouse gases not controlled by the Montreal Protocol. The project will use this inventory to estimate future sectoral emissions and to formulate a national greenhouse gas mitigation strategy. The project will assist in organizing a national workshop on climate change strategies and in the preparation of the first national communications.
