Community-based Conservation of Biological Diversity in the Mountain Landscapes of Mongolia's Altai Sayan Ecoregion
Project Summary
The project is designed to modify land and resource use trends and address the inadequacies of the protected area system within the landscape of Altai-Sayan. It will include Approx. 2000km2 of Mongolia's Altai-Sayan will be brought under improved management where bioidversity conservation will be mainstreamed into productive sectors (grazing, pastureland, forestry and tourism). About 10% of the land area will be under strict protection and 90% will comprise production landscapes.
