Barrier Removal to Secure PV Market Penetration in Semi-Urban Sudan
Project Summary
The project aims to create a sustainable technical, institutional and financial infrastructure to support PV market penetration. As a result of the project, growing energy demand in semi-urban Sudan would be met with PV instead of diesel systems. The project will help facilitate the development of government policy regulations that will create a favorable environment to generate 1.2 MW of installed PV capacity per year over the next 15 years. The project will also demonstrate the feasibility and viability of PV systems in Sudan while assuring, among others, the availability of credit mechanisms, the establishment of after sales services, and development of a curriculum for PV vocational training.
