The 44th meeting of the Global Environment Facility’s governing Council concluded today after welcoming the Government of Mexico’s proposal to host the next GEF Assembly, approving a work program totaling $369.82 million, expanding the roster of GEF Partner Agencies, and approving initial funding for the new Minamata Convention on Mercury.

MONTREAL, June 11, 2013 – Governments and global institutions should establish and enhance policy frameworks that will provide appropriate market signals to the private sector in efforts to sustain the earth’s natural capital, the head of the Global Environment Facility said today at an international conference.
