Oceanclimate.org was produced by the World Ocean Observatory in collaboration with the GEF, the Global Forum on Oceans, Coasts and Small Islands, and some 40 other environmental organizations with interest in the sustainable ocean. It was launched at Ocean Day at the Copenhagen climate summit in December and is intended to demonstrate the synergy between two natural systems, present conditions, and strategies for their future.

16 NOVEMBER 2009 | Washington, DC— The prestigious professional group American Water Resources Association (AWRA) has honored Dr. Al Duda, GEF senior advisor for international waters for his longstanding dedication to sound water resource management.
The GEF CEO and Representatives of the 16 countries of West Africa and Chad, including twelve ministers met in Cotonou on February 18-19, 2010.
The objectives of the meeting were to take stock of the GEF 4 programs on Energy and Biodiversity they had endorsed two years earlier in Cotonou, discuss the implications for their countries of proposed reforms for GEF 5 and explore opportunities for potential GEF-5 Programs.
The Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) is centered on high-level political commitments and proactive implementation by governments of the Coral Triangle area, and supported by multilateral and bilateral agencies, non-governmental organizations, and private sector partners (development partners). The six countries have chosen to address-in partnership- the management, conservation and adaptation to climate change of the tuna fisheries and coral ecosystems in that region.

NEW YORK, February 26, 2009 - The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), together with the World Bank and GEF, announced today a commitment of $2.8 million toward tiger conservation across its range. WCS will lead a new project, Tiger Futures, in partnership with other conservation organizations with long-term field experience in tiger conservation throughout countries spanning the big cat's geographical range in Asia. |
