Scheduled in parallel with the eighteenth meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP 18), on 1-2 December 2012, Adaptation Practitioners Days (APD) brought together Adaptation Practitioners working in the field to share experiences of concrete adaptation actions from the field, and provide answers for the question, “what is adaptation in practice?”
It featured a number of presentations that showcased experiences on the ground gained from more than 10 years of innovative adaptation financing through the Least Developed Countries Fund and Special Climate Change Fund. Combined, the two funds have financed over $680 million for more than 160 projects in vulnerable LDCs and developing countries.
The APD event was held at the Ezdan Hotel and Suites in Doha, Qatar, and was facilitated by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) in collaboration with the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and under the sponsorship of the Governments of Germany, the Gambia and Tuvalu.
